Layout of an essay and a prophecy that is already unfolding into our reality today about the evolution of both the image and the image makers (all of us).
Flusser envisions a reality in which our key strokes and button pressings produce infinite visual outputs, combinations of pasts/futures projected onto the Presence of our monitors. This of course sounds extremely accurate to what we are experiencing now, and it's only been 40 years since the text was written.

This excerpt is what inspired the image above which I made to accompany the text: "All information is available to me in an instant. I can, with the appropriate press of a key, blend Rheims Cathedral with Lincoln Center, synthesizing new information in the process."
Through a very tedious process of separation and weaving of individual pixels, I built the blended image of a Rheims Cathedral/Lincoln Center hybrid. Each spread contains pixel groupings that make up the final image, but it is not revealed in full until the end.

The fixed abacus in the margins indicates chapter numbers

I do not own the rights to the text; this is imaginary work done just for fun.
